Secure & Fast DNS

1.1.1.1 (1.0.0.1 for redundancy) is a fast DNS service provided by the well-known security provider CloudFlare. It is secure and does not track you, this is unlike most DNS providers in the case that it gives you both security and speed for free! Shown in the chart is the speed of 1.1.1.1 against other DNS providers. This is important during the fast-past productivity in life as it determines the speed in which your browser connects to an address for the first time.

Why should you switch?

Most DNS providers do not account for encryption and tracking protection, this can slow down your queries significantly and can result in the loss of privacy! Cloudflare uses secure encryption, does not mine your data, and with 1,000+ servers around the world the reliability in performance is extraordinary!

How can I switch?

Windows:

Click on the Start Menu, then click on Control Panel.
Open Network and Internet & then tap Change Adapter Settings.
Right-click the Wi-Fi network you are connected to & click Properties.
Select Internet Protocol Version 4, click Properties, and then write down any existing DNS server entries to not forget them.
Click on Use The Following DNS Server Addresses, and replace the addresses with the 1.1.1.1 DNS addresses: for IPv4: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1; & for IPv6: 2606:4700:4700::1111 and 2606:4700:4700::1001
Click OK, then Close and you should be finished!

Macs:
Open System Preferences.
Search for DNS Servers and click it.
Tap the “+” button to add a DNS Server and type 1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1.
Click “OK” and lastly “Apply” to finish!

Ubuntu:
Open your Terminal (CTRL-ALT-T) and obtain sudo with the command “sudo -i”.
Open the /etc/resolv.conf file with a text editor, such as nano, to make the change.
Create separate lines for the name servers, eI am text block. Click edit button to change this text. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Add two additional lines for the IPv6 addresses: 2606:4700:4700::1111 and 2606:4700:4700::1001
Save the file to finish!
